In an effort to reduce the number of @everyone pings, we are trying out a new weekly newsletter! These newsletters will include Server Changes, Highlighted Server Features, Pokemon Go News, Upcoming Contests/Challenges, Special Events, and much more! If you have a suggestion for a newsletter topic, please let a Gym Leader know – we want to hear from you, our community!

Server Feature of the Week: Trainer Form

We have grown so much in the past few weeks! Because of this, the Gym Leaders kindly ask you to fill out our Trainer Form. This is a very basic form that will ask for your ‘IRL’ name, in-game name, level, and other very basic info. Once you fill out the form, your Discord nickname will be changed accordingly. Why, you ask? We want to know your names! It just makes the game more fun and personal, and it fosters our sense of community. Also, having your trainer level accessible for everyone to see helps us better coordinate raids and ensures we have proper numbers to get the job done!

Updated Gym List

The #gym-list has been updated with a list of Middlefield Gyms. As you may know, Middlefield is not that big, meaning all of the gyms are very close together! Middlefield is just a short drive past Wadsworth Mansion (Olmstead Carriageway). Be sure to check out the tab in Discord for address information so you can get out there and secure a few more Gold Gym Badges! Thanks to our new raid leader, Stephanie (@Biv23) for the idea and the scouting out the gyms for us!

Pokémon Go News and Updates

In case you missed it, here are a few of the amazing new features in-game. Get that forced update!

• Lucky Pokemon are live! Preliminary (and anecdotal) research indicates Pokémon held in storage for over a year will almost certainly become “lucky” upon trading, and recent Pokémon randomly. Lucky Pokémon require half as much stardust to power up and generally come with good stats.

• Niantic is your new stalker: Gift postcards now boast Town, State, Country, and Google Map to the Pokéstop’s location. If you give out gifts from stops near your home, make sure your “friends” are really friends!

• Friends can now be nicknamed and sorted, including by “friend level”– figure out who your closest friends are and work on those relationships for the sweet trade-and-raid bonuses!
