In Case You Missed It…
WE TURNED 1 THIS WEEK! To celebrate we hosted a scavenger hunt downtown. Congrats to Team Valor on your New Firestone Emote and @Scoobydrew for winning the hunt! We can’t wait for another year of awesome POGO adventures together!
Welcome to our new Gym Leader, @Jamie(37)! He has some awesome ideas for building community participation and we are excited to have him on board!
We have some exciting plans for the next few weeks! Stay tuned to #news for the most up-to-date information!
If you have a suggestion for a newsletter topic, please let a @Gym Leader know – we want to hear from you, the community!
Server Feature of the Week: Custom Notifications
Custom notifications are truly the backbone of what makes the Middletown Server. We have many roles and pokemon that you can sign up for to receive a notification through discord. Roles like @Early Bird or @Lunch Crew are great to sign up for if you can only make the raids in the first part of the day! @HighIV is used for callouts in general chat when someone finds a viable pokemon with a 90% IV set or higher! General Tier Raid Tags have also been created. @Tier 5 @Tier 4 etc. All of these things can be signed up for in the #custom-notifications channel in discord using simple commands! Ask a @Gym Leader to help you get started today!
The Silph Road Cards
Did you know that The Silph Road offers a whole slew of things to make your Pokemon hunting more fun and focused? In addition to being an easy way to network with other local Discord groups and tracking what Pokemon species we can find at nests, The Silph Road also offers Trainer Cards. These Trainer Cards are a public profile that you can set up to display your in-game progress, show pride in the form of your favorite Pokemon species, and track what events you have participated in with fun badges!

There’s even an app for The Silph Road so you can manage all of this more easily on the go! So start your Trainer Card today if you haven’t already, and keep an eye out for a community member to get you signed in during the Eevee Community Day to show that badge!
REMINDER: If you want to trigger an EX Raid and get an invitation, don’t forget to sign up for #custom-notifications: type ?jensen ?adath ?shelter to get your ping and never miss a posting in #raid-attendance!

Pokémon Go’s Community Day Featuring Eevee! When: Saturday and Sunday, August 11th & 12th 2-5pm Stay Tuned: We will be revealing a location for a trade/check-in meetup and lured area in our next newsletter.
It's hard to believe that it's almost here, but Sat and Sun August 11-12 Eevee will be our community day Pokémon. Last community day we were able to collect 320 pounds of food for Saint Vincent DePaul's. We'd like to continue our community day collection going during our August Community Day as well.

Member-of-the-month!
Dr. Dan Hurley, aka @PokeDVM, one of our Mystic Leaders, has been doing a phenomenal job at keeping the @Lunch Crew active on lunch breaks! At least twice a week, Dan has managed to take time out of his own hectic workday and help coordinate raids for the Lunch Crew Members! Dan also is one of the first people to help out in the various chats we have in discord! Thank you Dan! You are awesome!
Pokémon Go News and Updates
In case you missed it, here are a few of the amazing new features in-game.
Niantic has announced their Trading Event! 3x exp for a new dex entry 25% less stardust cost per trade regardless of friendship level up to 6 candy per trade lasts until August 19th
@Spinda has been added the game! Currently, only its 8th form is available. Complete the research task (make 3 curveballs in a row) to get a chance to catch a Spinda! If you find this research task, please post it to #research-sightings with a map or specific cross street!
Shiny Houndour and Shiny Snubbull have been introduced to the game.
The Conspiracy Corner
In the The Conspiracy Corner we stay a little ahead of the “official” news and use sources like The Silph Road’s SubReddit to make connections that may not happen. Everything you read in The Conspiracy Corner technically COULD happen…
Despite the big rumors we got last week about Gen 4 coming out with a double XP event, we instead were given an event that has trading bonuses. But, wait! There is one reward that could indicate more new Pokemon are on the way very soon. Sure, 3x experience for a new Pokedex entry is a nice little boost to be sure, but is it worth it to have it as a specific event reward when there is only 2 brand new Pokemon in the game? It would be no surprise if Gen 4 coincided with this event somehow. Now, temper those expectations a little bit, because the official Niantic press release phrases it as: keep an eye out when you encounter a Pokémon not currently in your Pokédex, as you’ll receive triple XP when you gain a new entry! So, what do you think? Is Gen 4 on the precipice of being released, or is this just a small reward in a larger event? Only time will tell…
